  • Published July 19th, 2010 in WSOP

In this series I will take a look at the backgrounds and resumes’ of the nine poker players who managed to weave their way through, and outlast 7,310 opponents, and make it to the final table of the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The final table for the 2010 WSOP will reconvene on November 9th  where the remaining nine players will play down to just two, who will then return the following day, November 10th, to declare the 2010 WSOP Champion.

The nine remaining players are:

  1. Jonathan Duhamel - 65,975,000 chips
  2. John Dolan - 46,250,000 chips
  3. Joseph Cheong - 23,525,000 chips
  4. John Racener - 19,050,000 chips
  5. Matthew Jarvis - 16,700,000 chips
  6. Fillipo Candio - 16,400,000 chips
  7. Mike Mizrachi - 14,450,000 chips
  8. Soi Nguyen - 9,650,000 chips
  9. Jason Senti - 7,625,000 chips

In this installment I will take a look at the chip-leader going into the final table, Jonathan Duhamel. Despite listing his occupation as “Poker Pro” the 23 year-old from Quebec is a fairly unknown quantity in the poker world: One thing we do know about Duhamel is that like every Canadian he lists one of his pastimes as Hockey!

The Canadian poker pro will be the overwhelming chip-leader going into the final table on November 9th. The 23 year-old has a near 20 million chip lead over his nearest competitor, John Dolan, and close a 3-to-1 lead on the third place player Joseph Cheong. In fact, Duhamel has more chips than the players in 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th place combined!

To date, Duhamel’s biggest score was a 10th place finish in the 2008 EPT Prague Main Event worth $54,904. He also cashed earlier this year at the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure where he finished in 151st place, earning $17,500 in prize-money.

Prior to his Main Event run, Duhamel cashed two-times at the 2010 WSOP: The first was in $1,500 buy-in 6-Handed No Limit Holdem tournament where Duhamel finished in 50th place for $5,724: His second cash came in the $2,500 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament where he finished in 15th place, adding $37,276 to his bank account. Overall Duhamel has earned a total $119,060 in live poker tournaments according to the theHendonmob.com.

Duhamel has been playing under the PokerStars logo thanks to qualifying for the Main Event through the popular online poker site. Though it’s unclear how the sponsorship deal will work out for making the final table, look for Duhamel to continue sporting the PokerStars logo in November, as it would be very unlikely for PokerStars to drop the commanding chip-leader of the WSOP Main Event!
